I bought this book about 5 years ago when I started learning Japanese. It was incredibly good for what it aims to do - help the reader study not just individual Kanji but the radicals that make up the more complicated kanji.
Studying with this book will help understand how to write far more than the 250 kanji it proclaims on the cover (which is probably so not to scare away the easily intimidated). BUT it's not magic - you have to put the time in.
I cannot recommend any other book as strongly.
